An AeroPress recipe for a rushed morning

The AeroPress gets written up with a hundred competing recipes, inverted and not, bloomed and not. Mine is deliberately boring, because its job is to be done at 7am with one hand while I find my keys with the other.

Coffee
15 g, medium-coarse
Water
230 g, 85 °C
Stir
once, after the pour
Steep
75 s
Press
~20 s, gentle

Standard orientation, paper filter rinsed. Add the coffee, pour all the water in one go, give it a single stir to wet everything, cap it and wait. At around a minute and a quarter, press slowly — if you have to push hard, the grind is too fine for this and tomorrow you go a notch coarser.

I use water off the boil by a minute or so, cooler than I’d use for a V60, because the fine-ish grind and full immersion extract quickly and 85 °C keeps it from turning harsh. It is a cup with the edges rounded off. On a slow Sunday I’d reach for the V60 instead, but on a Tuesday this is the honest answer.
